Changing quantities with lot tracked parts

Hello,

Here’s my scenario: In Epicor, we have some parts that are lot tracked, and have a standard qty per lot of 10 pieces per lot. The customer has decided they would like 9 pieces per lot. Is there a way to add or remove pieces in the lot, or do I have to qty adjust out the qty 10 and the lot number and then qty adjust back in qty 9 with the same lot? I’m hoping there’s a better way, if this is the case?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Steve

Just adjust one out why do you need to adjust all 10 out?

Yes, true. I’m going to have to test it, because I believe we had some customization added which checks to ensure the lot qty matches a lot size field we use on the part record. I hope that’s not the case, and then your suggestion should work. I’m going to confirm this shortly with a quick test in our TST environment.

So I gave it a try in test and adjusting out just the qty I needed to remove worked. (I then have to adjust back in with a new lot number the amount removed from the first transation). Is there a way in Epicor to move qty between lots?

Highly doubt they built something to change one lot to another, but if someone shares a way to do that, that’d be cool.

@sgabany Yep, Inventory transfer handles it. Either hit Next Lot or assign you own.

Now a word of caution if you want true lot integrity you have to use lot fifo costing with lot tracking. Otherwise you can have fifo layers that are split between lots. Also, if you have the same lot and you transfer part to another warehouse especially with different costing it will effect the average cost.

Thx Greg, I’m going to give that a try. We are using standard cost for our parts, so hopefully the inventory transfer method you defined will still work. Once the client’s order qty gets placed for the year, we will be able to standardize the lot size for furture orders. It will only need to increase / decrease at the start of the program and at the end.

I’ll give this a test tomorrow and update everyone.

Thx

Steve
