Change Log-Order Entry Question

I have the UOM blocked in Order Entry on the Summary tab but not on the Lines tab. The lines tab UOM is Sales.UOM. however, in the Change log Iam seeing the UOm changed but its the IUM.

PartNum: 33814 -> 338-14
LineDesc: 2 -> part descriptions
IUM: EA -> DZ
RevisionNum: -> VT

The only IUM I can think of is the Part.IUM. SoI must be missing somehting.

The Inventory Unit of Measure is a column on the OrderDtl table that represents order lines.

But how do you cnage the IUM in Order entry? I can’t find one place that is even possible. And most likely, I am overlooking something. When I changed the UOM on the Lines tab, it showed up in the cahgne log as Sales.UM, not IUM. So, is kinda throwing me off a bit.

William,

I don’t think you can change the IUM. When you add a line and select a Part#, the IUM is copied from the Part Master. The order line itself has a different UOM field called OrderDtl.SalesUM.

This functionality allows you to inventory an item - for example - as Pieces, but sell in cartons, cases, pallets - depending on how your UOM Conversion table is set up.

We use it for Metric conversions. We make everything in Linear Feet (LF) but can sell to an international customer in Meters (M). We have a conversion table entry for LF <-> M with a conversion factor.

If you use them, this conversion table is also used with your price/discount lists to appropriately calculate the Order Line unit/extended prices.

Mike, I agree. After thinking about it, i remembered I had added in a customization. Seems since then all this started. So I stopped the customization and just used the Field Security Maint to restrict UOM changing abilities. We shall see if this fixes it. If it does, then it was the customization.
