Subject: [Vantage] Capacity Planning

Is anyone using a Capacity Planning software in conjunction with
Vantage? We want to feed in a sales forecast and project hours needed by
machine (along with other types of data).
Any information would be appreciated.

I created an Access DB to do this with a forecast from our biggest
customer. I took data from Vantage to get how long it would take to
make each part in each work center then combined that with the
customer's forecast for parts per month. I didn't do it by machine,
but I did also forecast how much of each kind of raw material we
would be needed per month. We also factored in our Labor Capacity,
per Department which we keep in an Access Table for other capacity
planning reports. One of Vantage's downfalls in the capacity
planning area is that it looks a machine capacity, and not man power
capacity. You really need to look at both. So we created a data
table that is updated monthly showing how many people are working in
each department and what their available hours are for each week.

It's been a while since I developed this so I don't have all of the
details fresh in my mind, but if you are interested in developing a
program like this I will do what I can to point you in the right
direction.
