Calibration/Traceability

We also use GagePack 2000. Their web site is www.pqsystems.com.

We are in the process of getting ISO Certified and in our final Audit, we
were required to have a system of traceability for calibration. i.e. if a
tool is found to be out of calibration, How do you know which parts were
tested with that particular tool or equipment.
Does any body use vantage (or any other system) to be able to trace back the
parts that had been tested/measured with a particular tool. Any
help/guidance would be appreciated.

Estuardo:

We are looking for a good solution to this situation as well.

What we have done in the mean time is as follows:

Each day, each operator must do a "Quick Check" calibration prior to
using each instrument. When he/she signs off on the Job Traveler -
signifying that the operation is complete, and all parts are in full
compliance - the sign off also indicates that the instrument Quick Check
was performed and found to be okay.

It's not great, but it gets us by. I have this fantasy of someday tying
all measurements or at least lot numbers into the Job Traveler, but like
I say - fantasy.

Hope this helps.

We are using a product called GAGEtrak from CyberMetrics. Only had it for a
few months but the QA people are happy with it so far. It was purchased
specifically for our ISO requirements so I think this might be the type of
software you are looking for. If I recall it was in the neighborhood of
$500. Try www.cybermetrics.com <http://www.cybermetrics.com> for info.

Thanks Todd,
We have a similar software called gagepack 2000. It has a "check out
function" where you can write down the parts that you have checked with that
particular tool. This could help for calipers at the QA office, but what
about all the employee's tools on the floor?

Sorry, can't help there. Only tools on our floor are die sets for metal
stamping. These are checked by QA after each run to determine need for
maintenance and I believe die set history is logged to a spreadsheet but
that's as far as it goes. I suppose a lot depends on the type of
manufacturing your are doing and the type of tools used.
