Business Process Mapping Software

I might need to look into newer versions of Visio. We are using 2002-sp2 Standard and it won't do what we need. Perhaps the Pro version or a newer version of Standard will suffice. Aside from a price like MS-Project I am looking for something that will do both list and flow formats so we could drop our ISO procedures into it (via Cut/paste) and have it generate the flow diagram. Then also assign "value" to the steps in the flow as well as attach notes and documents (mostly forms or screen shots). Maybe I am over reaching.
Thanks,
-Todd C.

Todd,

I use Microsoft Visio for this exact thing. It seems to work
pretty well for us. With drag and drop functionality, it's easy to
map business processes for analyzing. Standard is about $200 (per
license) and Professional is about $450 (per license). The viewer
is available for free.

Todd,

If you don't need to have the BPM package perform simulations on the
process, then something akin to Visio makes sense. It also has an API so
you could use Service Connect to have your diagram(s) create workflow
components in the Vantage BPM server.

Michael

Using Visio a little now but it lacks some of the underlaying logic and documentation features we would like. Also automatic drawing of flow from a list format...like Project. The Vantage BPM part will maybe be the way after we get to 8.x.
Thanks for the suggestions though.

If you want something with more features, you may want to take a look at
Sciforma Process:

http://www.sciforma.com/products/Process/sp_overview.htm

We've used it in the past to perform business process simulations to
demonstrate the ROI of a set of re-engineered processes. It is wonderfully
powerful but can be a bear to maintain for fairly complex processes.
