We are about to start using some new production equipment that is fully automated, meaning that there will not be any direct labour hours. However we still need to apply burden. How do we get a burden cost into WiP when there is no direct labour cost or hours?
No answer, just curious how your overall process might look?
People, operations and material movements involved?
We have “employees” named after the individual machines set up with zero labor that are clocked in/out once per pay period or whenever they complete a job. Then, whenever an employee has to interact with the job, they just clock in normally. Burden gets split between the two concurrent “employees” while labor only accrues from the real worker.
