You can also set up the Veritas backup job to run the batch file
before commencing the backup. In version 8.5 it is in the Advanced
tab, Commands, Execute before Backup.

This way you be assured that the Progress Backup batch file has run
just before the backup commences.

Ben,

You can't backup the live database using Veritas. In your job setup,
exclude all the \db folders.

Then, using the Windows Task Scheduler, schedule an online Progress
backup. See the BACKMFG.BAT and MFGBKUP.BAT files in your \MFGSYS
folder, modify to suit.

I use the above batch files to dump a copy of the database several times
per day out to a folder on one of our file servers. I then use Veritas
to backup that folder.

have a great weekend,
john
