Is there are BAQ that anyone has written that looks at best selling items (looking to pull variables of 10, 25, 50 or 100). I would like to have one based on revenue and one based on quantity (we have items that are sold at $0 as they’re included in multiple sales kits).
I should also say that in thinking this through more, I would like to see these as top selling items of sales kits and of individual items by both revenue and quantities.
It sounds like you are looking for the ability to understand your data a little better. You have a few options:
- You can build a BAQ and a Dashboard / Report but those things are static and will need changed every time your question changes.
- You can build a simple BI system where you extract data out of Epicor and analyze it. A great way to start is with Excel because it can already handle everything you will ever want to do.
- You can buy a BI tool. Epicor sells one called EDA with a lot of questions already defined and you can build your own in the tool. There are a huge number of other BI tools that you can buy as well.
In my experience the biggest problem that you are going to face is trying to find out who is going to run this and define what are they supposed to do. The technical part is the easy compared to people and process.
Tracy,
I agree with @John_Mitchell suggested but a few other thoughts. I think what you are after might be a really great candidate for Epicor Data Discovery. What I like about EDD is that you can build a BAQ that pulls the details and then in EDD you can summarize, filter and slice & dice as you need (to a degree).
EDD is good for exploring what has happened and having a quick & easy graph to get there. It does take some learning though. But what’s nice is it’s included with Epicor 10.
Epicor Data Analytics - is true BI add-on you can purchase from Epicor. It’s really Phocas under the hood, but Epicor has put in the effort to provide the models that can make getting into BI a lot easier. Business modeling is the hardest part of BI. Prior to Epicor offering EDA, I was already a fan of Phocas and I was impressed with how easy it was to setup and used compared to other BI alternatives.
BTW - Just for fun I just played with include BAQ zCRM-OrderDtl in EDD and I was able to roughly review the top qty and selling parts by time. Not sure it’s 100% what you are after but it looks promising to me:
You can zoom in to that Top # you want too by just highlighting the area of the graph in the mini graph below it(see the grey box I drew):
You can then save and publish what you built to the Main Menu Homepage.
If you are going to Insights you might want to attend some of their presentations on Data Discovery and EDA
Thank you all for your help and insight. I was able to create something to get the data I needed with Microsoft BI in the short-term. For the long-term we are moving to Epicor EDA.
