Bartender set up for dummies... help?

That makes sense. I would like to understand how to manipulate this in the future especially because as we set this up I'm sure that things will change as we try out and refine processes, but learning this from scratch is going to be very difficult (We are still trying to learn basic epicor functions at this point). I think hiring someone to come in to set it up, as well as teach me how to manipulate this in the future would be ideal. Our IT guy says he has an expert lined up to help us but I haven't been hooked up with him yet. Hopefully soon.

Do you have any recommendations for firms that would have someone who could set this up that would be able to come to our area. We're in Hawley MN which is 30 min east of Fargo ND.

Thanks,
Brandon
I hate to hijack a thread so I'm going to start a new topic about bartender. I am going to be trying to something almost exactly the same as one of the other bartender threads, but I need some help getting to where they are.

A little background, I'm not and I.T. guy, I'm not a programmer, I just use a lot of programs and can think logically so I have been tasked with the bartender integration since our I.T. guy is swamped with lots of other stuff that needs to be done for out E-10 implementation. So I apologize if my questions are basic and have been answered before, but, such is life.

So here is is the situation.

We need to print part # labels with barcodes. We need a label for every part coming out of paint, so if we could make something automatic for printed labels when parts are reported as qty completions coming from a paint operation that would handy. We will also need the ability to label the parts that do not get painted but since we can't peg it down to a specific operation, it will have to be an on demand.  We have purchased bartender (I don't know what version yet, when I get with my IT guy I'll get that info), and I've figured out pretty easily how to format a label (pretty much like powerpoint), but I don't know how to get the info from E-10 into bartender. From the threads I've read it sounds like dropping files as CSVs into a watch folder is the easiest way to go, and makes sense to me.

So first step will be getting e-10 to create a CSV and drop it into a folder. How do I do that?

Thanks much in advance.

To use the BPM (replaced BAM) functionality for label printing you don’t NEED to be a programmer. To drop the CSV you kind of need to be. You will need to understand the Epicor Table structure, LINQ and C#.

I think you could get away with using the BPMs and hooking onto the MFG-STK transactions to do what you are looking to do. That could be muddled through fairly easily with some group help I would imagine. Honestly depending on your pay grade it’s fairly quick to get done if you know what you are doing so where is the break point on how much time you can spend on it before a firm could just get it done for a few hondo, know what I mean?

Depends on how far you want to take it, and how much changing and maint there will be in the future if it’s worth learning all the in’s and outs.

You need BarTender Automation Suite to make it work right. From BarTender open help and about it will tell you the version right there.
