We are trying to print our bartender labels to a different printer. the printer is correct in the data source file but, it still goes to the original printer. Example: we set a label to print to “printer A”. We purchased “Printer B”. I switch the printer in the label file to “PrinterB”. The label will still print to “Printer A” i would like it to read the label file and use the printer designated in the bartender label file that is generated.
I have also apparently reached the max number of printers that you can install for bartender. i really only have two but they have been re-installed several times during this process. if anyone knows how to release printers from the licensing, I would appreciated that as well.
The printer licensing can be a real pain. I believe it takes 7 days of no printing activity for them to drop off. Maybe BarTender support could do this sooner.
What does your BarTender integration look like? You should be using the Print Command Script action with the Source set to variable and the variable set to %EventData%.
Yes. We are using print command script with %EventData%. Is this what tells bartender to use the printer listed in the label file that is generated? Can some other setting override the %EventData%
I believe the label data can be overridden based on the information in the Administration Console, There is a Printer Setup page and in that page it does have a redirection option when the printer is offline, in an error state, or otherwise unavailable.
I can confirm that Bartender can potentially release the printers on your license so you can set them back up. I had a printer go down and bought a new one and had to have them release the printers so I could refresh the license and add the new printer and remove the old one without having to wait 7 days. Their support was awesome, and I was blown away by a support team that appeared to truly care about their customers. It was a nice change of pace from what I’m used to.
Same here - we had an issue during implementation with decommissioning a test printer in our office. I forget exactly what/how they did it but we didn’t wait seven days.
It is baffling to me how they would think “wait 7 days” is a viable solution for any company trying to make money. im considering uninstalling the license server and reinstalling it if they wont help. We are not currently under maintenance.
I would reach out to their customer support. They were super quick to fix my issue and all I had to do was press 1 button on the admin console to fix it after they did their part. This was earlier this week so I know it’s something they will do.
