I have some general questions about our current BarTender process. I can set the default printer on the label in Designer, but I want it to print from the default printer for the workstation the user is on. So in the BPM for auto-print, that is how I have it set. Does the default on the label matter at that point, or is there a way to remove the default printer for that label?
Also, when there is an error during printing on the bartender server, it stops all printing for that integration and once the error is cleared the labels print. Is there a way to auto clear any issues or errors that appear so printing can continue?
It sounds like you arent using any integration with Epicor and BT now is that correct?
Epicor’s solution uses ‘drop files’, they pass the printer.
Also, if you roll your own solution taking advantage of BTs REST interface (via Integration Builder) you can do that + any other thing you can imagine. I spoke about it briefly last year at Insights, my slides should be in ZIP.
Ah you know what, even when I used the drop file method, I wrote my own for flexibility. So the Epicor provided method doesnt allow printer selection? That seems unlikely, but not unfeasible.
We have a BPm to auto-print when a receipt is done. In the auto print widget, it allows us to enter a printer or use the default. Going forward I would like to use the default option as we expand the receiving station to more printers. Right now I have it selected to print to the label printer that we have, but in Designer, if I choose Microsoft PDF, it throws an error on the server. I change the default printer in Designer to the same one that I have in the BPM and it works fine. Once I change to workstation default in the BPM it only prints to the one printer set to default in the label.
You cannot use print to pdf in the automated Bartender Process as far as I know because it requires user input (which cant be provided because the server does it,not the user)
