Barcode in Crystal Report

Bartender is an app that integrates with Vantage.
www.seagullscientific.com <http://www.seagullscientific.com/>

It's installed along with APM and auto-prints labels. It has the
ability to print many styles of barcodes.

Crystal Reports and Code39 in general is easy to create.

Code 128 requires checksum digits and can be done in Crystal Reports
with a plug-in I've seen.

Other barcode formats you will be forced to use Bartender.

That's right and I have this barcode already and I use it.
But since this barcode is a linear barcode so the longer my number is
the barcode uses more space.
Now I want to barcode my Part # that could be more that 20 characters so

I want to use 2D barcode called Datamatrix that is very compact even for

long strings but this is not a font so it has to tie in crystal's
barcode system.
And there is the issue how?

Epicor comes with a Dataworks 3 of 9 font.

Copy client\dwbar39.ttf to your windows\fonts directory and reboot your
computer.

The 3 of 9 font will then be available to Crystal reports.

I have never used any other barcodes but I assume all you need is the
correct font installed.

Hope this helps.

Subject: [Vantage] Barcode in Crystal Report

Hi

Im looking to start printing Barcodes on some forms in crystal from
Epicor 9.

Ideally i would like to print 2D DataMatrix barcodes.
I have no experience with barcodes in crystal, i saw that you can select

change to barcode and it gives you the option "Change to Barcode" but
there are no barcodes there to select.

Any help would be appreciated

Ephraim

Hi

We use PDF417 barcode which is also a 2D barcode.

Not only are 2D barcodes smaller for the amount of data contained in them, the 2D barcode scanners are much more accurate and quickerthan the linear type.

We use a bolt-on by a company called IDAutomation.com.

It was reasonably in-expensive in the grand scale of things.

It is very easy to use and can be just copied and pasted staright into a 'formula' field in Crystal.

The major bonus of this is that it doesn't use a barcode 'font' - therefore the any PC can print it without having to have any special barcode fonts installed.

One tip - 2D barcodes are quite sensitive - make sure your printer is in good condition - if you are using thermal transfer printers make sure the heads are clean and all pins in the head are functional.

I hope this helps you.

Let me know how you get on.

Thanks.
