I'm using a Wasp WLS9500, costs about $330, but it can be programmed to
enter multiple fields with a single scan for areas like data collection
where I enter Job #, Assembly Seq, and Op Seq. With numerous people from
Motorola helping, I was unable to get the Symbol to function similarly.
The Wasp reader uses a USB port on a PC.

A low budget solution is a Symbol LS2208 tethered barcode scanner attached
to a laptop running Vantage MES with a wi-fi card. Use a hand-me-down old
IT laptop with enough RAM to run Vantage. You can find these for < $150.

Find a nice metal rolling cart to push it around the warehouse to pick or
inventory counts or whatever. Plus you don't need to buy Epicor's gaudy,
useless Handheld module.
