Bar code font 128

I am in v 8.03.405 using Crystal. I am useing code 128 all of the time.
I purchased it from IDEAutomation and as long as you install it on the
workstations you shouldn't have any problems. I have never been on v 6
so I can't speak to Report Builder

Subject: [Vantage] bar code font 128

If people can remember back in the old 6.1 days, does anyone have any
luck using bar code font 128? I print shipping labels using report
builder, but now a customer wants us to use bar code font 128. Can I
purchase this font and use it in report builder? If that will not work
how about Crystal?

I went all through this and (like a bunch of other people here) ended up getting BarTender from Seagull Software. It is not a simple font substitution line Code 39. There are internal calculations for check digits that are really complicated. Probably too much so for RB. There is an add-in function floating around for Crystal that does the calculation and then when combined with the right font is supposed to do the trick.

Actually we got BarTender to handle a customer requirement for 2D labels and have still dodged the other requests for Code 128. In some cases we've just printed Code 39 and waited to see if they noticed. Most places relying on outside consultants doing their ID project don't really use the check digit features and their scanners will scan any symbology so they are none the wiser as long as the data scans in OK. But at least now if really pushed on it we can make Code 128 labels.
