BAQ's Blank Title 58985

The query shouldn't stop working when you add other tables... If you put the
query here we may be able to tell you what's wrong.

We have just finished an 8.0.3 implementation and are currently
working on some complex BAQ's (for both dashboards and reports). A
couple of thoughts:
1) It is a Business Analyst role who can understand the needs of the
user as well as database/table relationships
2) Experience in writing reports (E.g. crystal)
3) A "critical thinker", there are multiple paths sometimes to a query
and you want someone who can do the pros/cons of each approach.

Good luck

Alec,

Do you have any samples of the BAQ's you are creating that you could
share? I keep trying to create BAQ's and am having difficulties with
the Calc and Criteria portions.

If you don't have any BAQ's you can share, could you answer a quick
question. Are you limited to only one Calculated field per BAQ?
Everytime I try to create a BAQ it overwrites the one I've already
created. At the rate I'm going, I can't see the advantage of BAQs
when you appear to be limited to only one calc field and the
inability to use a calc field in setting up criteria.

Any help would be so greatly appreciated.

Hi Debbie

You can have multiple Calc fields. If you highlight the existing calc
field and select the calc button it opens the existing field. Try
highlighting a different field and selecting the calc button.

Thanks, I don't know what I was doing wrong before, but it's good to
know that I can do more than one calc. I even got several calcs in.
Now I just have to get the progress code right.

Hi all,

I am trying to write a BAQ which queries a ud table. In sql server the query
would be:

select partnum, ud101.character01 from part, ud101 where part.character09 like
ud101.key1
The data types are incompatible so like is used instead of equals

Is it possible to run a BAQ with a like statement.

Kind Regards
Mark

[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
sure use matches

select partnum, ud101.character01 from part, ud101 where part.character09
like
ud101.key1
The data types are incompatible so like is used instead of equals

for each Part, ud101 where Part.Character09 MATCHES(UD101.Key1)

Hi,

I have used matches but it does not give me any matches. Any Ideas.

Subject: Re: [Vantage] BAQ's

sure use matches

select partnum, ud101.character01 from part, ud101 where part.character09
like
ud101.key1
The data types are incompatible so like is used instead of equals

for each Part, ud101 where Part.Character09 MATCHES(UD101.Key1)

I used matches like you suggested.
Unfortunately the query stops working when adding other tables to the query.
Luckily enough we use the field needed in abbreviated form in the part search So
this will do for now
Mark
