We're new to Vantage and are trying to setup a BAQ to search for part
numbers by the Customer's part number. Now that the query is setup, how
do we make it accessible from a Part Search window? We have
the 'Shared' box checked in the BAQ setup window but it still does not
show up in the list under the BAQ tab when we do a Part search.
Make sure the part # is in the BAQ Search "like" columns

Subject: [Vantage] BAQ setup question

We're new to Vantage and are trying to setup a BAQ to search for part
numbers by the Customer's part number. Now that the query is setup, how
do we make it accessible from a Part Search window? We have
the 'Shared' box checked in the BAQ setup window but it still does not
show up in the list under the BAQ tab when we do a Part search.

Once the BAQ is designed, analyzed and tested to be doing what you want with no erros (and exported to xml for safekeeping, close it and bring it back into the BAQ designer app.

The far right tab called BAQ Search should then list all the table fields in your BAQ in the left 'Available "Like" Columns pane of the screen.

By selecting a listed table.column and moving it (with the arrow control) to the right pane 'BAQ Search "Like" Column', any application which (natively) has a view into the table.column will then have that BAQ available from its Search window as a BAQ Search.

...A piece of advice: Over time, you can end up having dozens and dozens of BAQs available for use as BAQ searches for particular applications. Example: Our Job Entry has 24 available BAQ searches (all with archane company code prefixed names that aren't particularly inutitive to users).

Most users really only need 3-6 of these searches - so to make their lives more productive, create specific Named searches for each user (based on the BAQs) for ONLY what they will commonly need to do their normal jobs.

Named searches are stored as personalizations so each user can have different named searches.
