BAQ Calculated Field

Would you still expect this to work even if the first calculated field was based on a summarised table? Thanks.

Is it not possible to define variables within a calculated field? I'm trying this simple declaration with no luck. First time attempting this.

Define Variable x As Integer NO-UNDO.

TIA,

-Ted
Good Day Ted:

I do not think so - not directly.

I have never done it, but you could define a parameter either in the
Display>>filter screen OR the Phrase-Build tab>>Criteria tab. It
might then let you put that Parameter in a Calculated field. I doubt it
though.

Not possible, the BAQ calculated field syntax is a single expression.
However, you can define one calculated field to hold part of a complex
expression, then use that in a second calculated field.

Thanks,

Brian.

Good Day Brian:

What version are you on

I have tried using a calc-field in another calc-field and it did not
work. Have you actually done it?

Maybe works sometimes? Depend on files, fields; calculation, etc.

Worked for me in 9.05.607B for a couple simple ones, don't remember
doing anything special.

First calc field is: ShipDtl.OurInventoryShipQty + ShipDtl.OurJobShipQty

Second is: OrderRel.OurReqQty - OurShipQty

It worked for me.

But I discovered over time that the first calculated field must be created before the second if not it doesn't work.
