Bank Flat File for check payments

I am unfamiliar to how this process works, but I sat with accounting and they walked me through it. They run the check register report, and a flat file is generated that has all the information that the bank needs. How is that file generated, and how can I modify it? I have been looking around and just don’t know where to do this.

What is this for? ACH? Positive Pay?

We had a thing here called V-cards or P-cards or whatever. It has been a disaster, but that’s not because of Epicor.

This is for ACH.

Payment Processing is your friend and the payment methods need to be setup then you can modify the electronic interface are you on-prem

OK, it’s kind of involved. You will need to set up these screens in Epicor:

  1. Electronic Interface Maintenance
  2. Payment Method
  3. Bank Account
  4. Supplier (for each one)

Been meaning to write the one up to be honest…

Yes, I think you are on the right track with Positive Pay. This generates a ‘flat file’ for output. However, in my experience you can’t modify it yourself. You have to ask Epicor support to make one specific for your bank needs.

If you are on prem, all the files are there in the server/erp/ei folder. in there there is folder for each interface which is a VS studio project for each one

There are examples and there are also other examples on Epicweb for earlier versions that you can download (your mileage may vary)

Disregard my comment of the examples, they appear to be there already, at least in my On prem install.

I had wrote up a PPT, but it has sensitive info.

We didn’t have to do anything outside of Epicor. I think I learned everything here on this site.

And EpicCare: EpicCare Login - EpicCare

Bank account might have been the trickiest part:

So we are switching from one bank to another. For example, we are switching from bank A to bank B. There is a file that is kicked out that looks like this format.

101 {string_of_numbers} {Bank Name}
{string_of_numbers} {string_of_numbers} {company_name} {string_of_numbers}

I don’t know what these numbers are or where they are pulled from. I am assuming routing numbers, account numbers, amounts of $, etc.
