BAM Alerts Blank Title 68860

Jasper,
Unfortunately, BPMs will not be available until you reach 8.x (maybe
even 8.03) but for now, I can offer some help with .p writing. I found
little documentation on how to write them, but through the help of this
group and a helpful CAM a few years back, I taught myself what I needed
to know.
First, I think you will find an example in the UD folder of a .p (open
it with notepad if you like).
The next thing it to make use of Progress help to learn some 4GL syntax.
If you have some idea of what you would like the alert to contain (it's
a bit easier if all the information comes from the table creating the
alert, but it's not so big an issue to include other tables, you just
have to link them by hand) let us know and someone will give you an idea
of what code your .p will need to contain.
Best of luck,
Aaron Hoyt

I have created a BAM in Version 6.1 that looks at any creation of a part or changes to its standard cost.

The email alert I get is useless. It doesn't even tell me what part number it is.

Am I doing something wrong or is this just the way it is?

Thanks,
Jasper

How is your BAM setup. Are you just e-mailing an alert or are you executing a Progress Procedure? I don't think the default Vantage alerts give you much information, you need to create your own .p procedure to have executed upon the firing of the BAM.

We are just using the default vantage alert.

Are there any documents on how to start writing simple .p procedures?

Thanks,
Jasper

You should look into BPM for e-mails. The BAM e-mails are next to
useless. If you have the tools guide there's a lot of info in it,
otherwise I can send an example of one.
