backflush can only be used if the item is setup in part maintaniance with an operation code correct?
We want to backflush material when the material is taken off the shelf, not when an op code is used. The material could be taken off the shelf weeks before the job is actually in production.
We are a custom shop, we take parts off the shelf and assemble (weld) them into a new machinary package. Parts do not trigger op codes, because everything we do is by hand.
Maybe you want to do an inventory transfer to a âWIPâ bin instead.
Or I think our engineers made a Kitting operation on our jobs to grab parts as part of a kit package for our welders and it would backflush the related materials as soon as the picker reported it complete.
@utaylor As far as I know, you are correct. The backflush process looks at the âqty per parentâ and âfixed qtyâ settings on the operation and calculates the correct qty of material to automatically issue(backflush) to the operation based on the qty completed. Note, that if the material is set to âfixed qtyâ then completing even 1 piece will cause the entire required qty to backflush.
@terryterrell - I would change the process to issue the material to the job once itâs been picked. The material has a demand/requirement once the job is released, but wonât backflush until a qty is completed. I wouldnâtâ worry about backflushing and worry about getting it out of inventory when you âtake itâ so your inventory looks correct.
