Our engineering department has requested the ability to attach a folder/folder link as a document in Epicor, rather than attaching all the individual files in the folder.
Is there a way to do this? My search has run pretty dry. I see there was a way to do it in vantage/vista, but the solution doesn’t seem to apply to E10.
It seems that these is no good way to add a folder link as an attachment. One way to help simplify it is to setup your Doc Types with associated folders. That way when a user chooses the specific Doc Type, the pop-up automatically starts them in the right folder to choose the attachment.
I am also curious if anyone has any ideas that makes this process easier.
In enterprise document management systems, there is no concept as a folder. Yes, ECM and SharePoint will give people a field to emulate a folder structure, but often this is done with metadata. I’m pretty sure that both ECM and SharePoint allow one to create a URL that filters documents within a document type by a metadata tag like partnum.
Out of the box, browsers won’t work with UNC paths (\\server\share…), but Epicor may allow its customers to stay in this world using the Edge Client.
