Anyone using Epicor Prism / Knowledge Agent?

Epicor Prism

I’m just checking to see if SkyNet is ready to do my job for me yet.

It seems potentially useful, but I’m sure there will be growing pains. (“Please open the most recent sales order, HAL.” “I’m sorry, Dave, I can’t do that.”)

I also can’t tell if this is product will be a separate cost, or if it going to be included in existing cloud plans at no additional cost.

I’m on 2024.2.7 and I don’t see the icon for Prism so I am assuming it’s paid.

I do have the knowledge agent, I have been playing around with it this morning, nothing mind-blowing yet.

From what I understand, ‘Prism’ is the AI service, whereas ‘Knowledge Agent’ is the AI app. (Why the discordant naming scheme? I’ll never understand.)

Knowledge Agent just seems to be a way to interact with the Epicor help articles VIA AI Chat.

It does cost extra (PRISM)

Knowledge Agent is part of the Education Team / Help and I’m not sure if that costs differently but it isn’t the same as PRISM (or at least it wasn’t)

@karihagedorn might be able to answer definitively

Oh, the email I got from Epicor announced Prism, but also then talked about Knowledge Agent, with the implication (at least to me) that they were both part of the same product:

Epicor Knowledge Agent Is Available to You in Preview Mode
Great news! With the launch of Epicor Prism in Release 2024.2.7 of Epicor Kinetic Cloud (Public or Enterprise), Epicor Knowledge Agent is now available in Preview Mode to all Epicor Kinetic Cloud customers running Release 2024.2.7.
Epicor Knowledge Agent, formerly known as Knowledge Assistant, is an innovative AI feature that provides a faster, easier way to access relevant information from Epicor Help Documentation, Knowledge Base, Epicor Learning Courses, and Release Notes.
Instead of browsing through multiple pages of search results, you simply ask Knowledge Agent a question in the Help and Support panel and get a concise and practical answer. This is a great way to become familiar with the GenAI technology that helps power the Epicor Prism AI network of vertical AI agents. You can learn more about Epicor Knowledge Agent by viewing the Feature Spotlight on the Epicor Learning Center (after logging in and choosing Kinetic).

To my understanding they are the same behind the scenes.

Knowledge agent is one of the ‘Agents’ of Prism to interact with the help pages. However I believe knowledge agent is included in the product and available via the help icon once enabled in the preview features.

The rest of Prism is paid for by ‘Agent’ and interacts with the customers data.

Hi All,

Knowledge Agent is an agent included in the Prism package. With the release of Kinetic 24.2.7 all cloud customers will be able to leverage Knowledge Agent from Help & Support panel even if they do not own the Prism product. This Agent does not have a cost to it while in preview mode.

Safe Harbor Statement

The agent is anticipated to be released from preview mode with Kinetic 2025.1 release and we will provide any updates on pricing (if applicable) closer to the release.

Anyone know if they intend to keep Prism as a Cloud only feature, or will it be available On Prem as well?

I believe at Insights they said cloud only.

Kari,
Do you know where we can find instructions for us 2024.2.7 cloud admins to enable Prism/Knowledge Agent? The website says to get with your admin to enable it for users. I didn’t find anything in Epicweb/EpicCare.

The only place I found it is in the Preview Features Settings, which allows you to enable it for yourself or for the company:

I logged in as manager and I don’t see any menu options like global settings or preview features. I discovered that I need to use Kinetic in a Browser and I saw the preview option. It doesn’t work in the smart client.

Thanks!

Tim’s instructions below are how to enable Knowledge Agent for the company and themselves. Each user will then have to navigate to the same menu to enable it for themselves.

Here is the help article on Knowledge Agent including instructions on how to enable it:
