Anyone know how to change the workstation on MES?

Do I need to assign the user to a workstation for it to log them into that specific workstation on MES or is there another way I can choose the workstation once I am logged into MES?

In short, how do you select the workstation on MES?

The only system that I’ve found to work is to log into the smart client, change to the desired workstation, and log out.
I would like to find an easier way, but, per thecdh support, there isn’t one,
If the workstation in question will have users logging in and out occasionally, it’s best to set them up to not save setting on exit.

Maybe…by Workstation, I was thinking shipping workstation, for use with Quickship.
That’s what we use it for.

Yeah that is what I am trying to nail down- Quick Ship. I’ll try to change the user to have that as their workstation and see if MES picks up on that.

Ever find a way to change workstation?

I feel like I had to link it to their login and that was the only way… but I’d have to check again.

When I asked this I would have been on 10.2.500 and they may have made it possible in kinetic now.

Unfortunately I’m on 10.2.200 in this case lol. Thank you!

I don’t think they built anything to switch it… you could put a ticket in. You could probably code it somehow… :dumpster_fire:

I’ve done it through code before, but I think there were side effects.

Can’t remember if I worked around them or not.

Yeah that’s what I’m looking in to now. The problem is I have multiple users logging in to multiple workstations, so I can’t tie a user to the workstation.

Ok back up…

What is the business problem ? (Don’t kick me. )

In 2023.2 Classic MES I’m not seeing a way of changing the Workstation (but you can change Company and Site via a right-click on the Epicor logo). In the 2023.2 Kinetic Browser Data Collection you can change the workstation via the “profile” icon (lowermost left).

thank you Ernie!!! I thought I recalled a way to do this in Kinetic but not in 10.2.500 classic.

Also @kve , you can tie their employee to a user- which will make them log in every time they use their empID and the session doesn’t belong to them (in the case of a shared workstation).

How realistic this is I’m not sure. I wanted to poll people to see if they were doing this in their shops.

I did try that, but we use SSO and it pops up a username / password login box, and then fails with the error “This user requires SSO” or something like that. I think I’m just going to force the issue and tie the workstation to a user, then force the users to log in on one computer each day.

That’d be their default workstation on login so could work unless they are wanting to work at an alternate workstation.

Right-click on the Epicor image in the upper left no longer work?

I didn’t see an option there to Change Workstation (in a system where multiple workstations were defined). I DID see options to Change Company and Change Site.

I built a change workstation tool a veeeeeery long time ago, sure it’s here somewhere. It was for legacy hh but. You could modify

Just moved companies and downgraded from 2023.2 to 10.2.200, Legacy is my life now :see_no_evil:.
