Can someone explain to me how alternate parts are handled as job materials (we also use MRP)?
For example: Job 12345 has material ABC with alternate material ABC-ALT…
Scenario 1: MRP runs. We don’t have enough of ABC in stock, but we have enough of ABC-ALT. Will MRP swap out the job material ABC for ABC-ALT or generate a PO suggestion for ABC?
Scenario 2: Job 12345 has been generated (manually or by MRP). At purchasing time for part ABC, purchaser finds they are unable to get part ABC, so they opt to purchase ABC-ALT instead. Does Epicor have any built-in logic when issuing to the job or does Job 12345 need to be manually edited to remove part ABC and add part ABC-ALT?
My assumption is that if you are choosing an alternate material part, modifications to the job are all manual, but would love to be told otherwise!
