The only thing the BAM is giving vs my Automated report is that the BAM
can occur the instance a change takes place, with my Automated Report, a
.P procedure is executed at 3am each day compiling all the "past due"
information into a htm file which is then pushed to the Autoreports
e-mail engine and sent to the responsible people. Not real time, but
within 24 hrs.... (and it allows me to create a list of items vs one
e-mail for each item)

If you really wanted something to actually trigger off a BAM, you could
use a VBForm field which the BAM fires off of. You'll then need to
create a .W application with a pstimer.ocx which will trigger every x
seconds running a query against your date values. Items that become past
due, the .W application would then update the VBForm field value that
should trigger the BAM. Down side is that you'll have to execute this
inside an open session of Vantage which will use up one of your
licenses.

I do already have all of those reports created using Excel & MS Query
(linked via ODBC), and they're setup to "Refresh on file open," but of
course my GM requested that I give my lazy co-managers more of a nudge.
Thus the thought of finding a way to trigger the BAM...

Jim,
Unless I am mistaken, this is one of the limitations of the BAM (alert
program). The BAM must see a change is a field, but can't be triggered
just
by time going by.
Please let me know if someone has found another method around this.
Thanks,

Hello,

Has anyone got a quick example of an alert program (progress file) you
may
have developed to trigger based on the calculated age of a value in a
date
field?
Just looking for a quick shortcut...

Thanks in advance,
