I am currenty testing Advanced Unit of Measure for the business, after getting a UoM Class data fix from Epicor as you cannot change a material class for the FG once they have been transacted, we have AUoM doing what we want, we are on version 10.2.700.11.
I know in Kinetic there are several upgrades to the AUoM module that address a few issues around material issue but unsure of all of them.
We know AUoM does not allow backflush so material must be issued to a job then the remainder salvaged back to stock, this if fine in principle and works fine.
However, this has to be done on a job by job basis in our current version, in this scenario it would mean that if we had 20 jobs we would have to issue 20 sheets then salvage 20 offcuts back to stock, even though all jobs could be nested and cut on say 3 sheets with a small offcut. this is not a practical way foreword.
On our version 10.2.700.11 is there a way to issue say 3 sheets for 20 jobs and salvage back the remaining offcut.
Has anyone else had the same issue or created a solution to resolve this, it would be good to understand other people thought process on this.
I did also had some thoughts about this, and I think if you are nesting, the Epicor way to go would be to create a batched job for the operation you do on the 20 jobs in one sheet. Then you can issue one sheet to the Job and salvage from the batched job what is left over as an offcut.
@steven.martin
Thought I would share my idea on handling sheet stock.
Realize that this is an old thread.
But this may answer your question that you had about handling sheet stock.
