ADP Payroll and Data Collection

Probably not what you are looking for but Labor Edit will do it. It is fairly fast - especially if a report is generated with info in the right order for traversing the edit screen. But to my knowledge no automatic method. Way out there solution....a report that generates some sort of Ground Control macro script with the navigation and entery values. If we had time & materials or "cost plus" type jobs I think it would be an issue here - count them on the job the moment they are getting paid.

For some reason, the owner wants to eliminate any 'in between' time. Is there a way to do that in vantage?

The Vantage Data Collection (on PCs) does do rounding. We have a 15 minute window before/after shifts and it rolls it back/forward to the standard time (only before-forward on clock-in and after-back on clock-out). We don't need a lock-out with that wide a window. Outside of that span we have exception reports and supervisors authorize (or not) the overtime or late clocking. Clocking is very fast and users use scan guns for their barcoded ID number. Then when clocking onto jobs they also scan the job traveler. Time in between, not on job, is counted as Indirect time and we want it that way so supervisors get jobs assigned and minimize this non-productive time. Lunch time is automatically removed from time on jobs.

We had the ADP export module for while but dropped it due to more work calculating overtime rules and fixing ADP than for entering totals from a report.

Jasper,

We're in a similar situation. Our current system is manual calculation and
entry of timeclock data into ADP. I know that many on the list are
exporting data collection info out of Vantage for use in ADP. We looked
into doing that, but decided to go with ADP's electronic Ethernet timeclocks
instead (we're installing them this month). Our HR manager wants rounding
rules (punching in at 7:50am gets rounded to 8:00am for pay calculation),
punch lockouts (employees can't clock in more than 10 minutes prior to their
shift) and many other features like that. To my knowledge, the Vantage Data
Collection module does not provide these things (without customization,
which = time and $). I was not able to find electronic timeclocks that
pre-integrated with Vantage either. We also considered the 3rd party
Vantage HR module, but that's far more expensive than ADP.

Hope that helps,

Jasper,

We've talked to lots of companies that spend as much time and have as many
problems checking, verifying and correcting information entered via data
collection as they did with manual after the fact data entry. That being
said, yes we are going to try using data collection, but rather than having
all shop employees use it, we are going to start with the supervisors and
certain key people in an attempt to minimize errors.

Subject: [Vantage] ADP Payroll and Data Collection

We currently us ADP as our payroll service. We also only use manual time
card entry.
We want to start using Data collection but I have a few questions:

Can we export time card information into ADP?

Does data collection require a user to punch in and out for the day?

If we were to use an ADP time clock, can we import the punch in and punch
out times into Vantage?

Can you use an external punch clock and link it to the data collection
module?

Can you create any rules when it comes to clocking into a job? On feature
the owner wants is the ability to have a persons whole day associated with a
particular job. ILets say that person punches in for the day, goes and gets
his job assignment and then goes to the data collection station to start the
activity on a particular job. In that scenario, he punches in at 8:00am but
does not start the job until 8:20am. Is there a way to capture that
20mintues to the current job he's working on?

Thanks,
Jasper
