ADP Interface Module

Ed,

We also have the ADP interface with the Data Collection from
Vantage. I would agree with Todd that there is a lot of data
massaging once the time is exported to ADP. It seems to me that our
HR spends a lot of time with OT and manual calculations. The data is
exported to an excel spreadsheet then manipulated to reflect the
correct hours. Then it is imported into ADP. The most time is spent
in Excel and reconciling the data. The bottom line is that there
should be an easier way (I just dont know what that is for us yet)

If you need more info, I am sure that our HR person would be happy to
talk with you about it. Let me know off-line.

Jeff

ended up being more work to massage the hours and OT time manually
after exporting to ADP than it was to just key the hours in from a
report I wrote that gives the payroll person what they need to figure
out the correct OT hours (like which day of the week how many hours
were worked after X hours prior to that in the week taking into
account holidays, vacation or absence , etc.... very complicated).
The module itself was fairly straightforward to use...just couldn't
handle our requirements. If you take a look at it I would suggest
defining all your requirements for it and make no assumptions.

ADP seems to be hard pressed to find any of their clients who are
Vantage users exporting their time reporting to ADP Pay Xpert. Anyone
out there using ADP and Vantage Data Collection?
I would appreciate any feedback, just keep it clean.

Ed,

We use Vantage Data Collection, ADP Payroll, and the Interface Module.
I'd say it works well, although not 100% of the time.

Good:
It provides our Payroll Dept a place to enter miscellaneous hours (Vac,
Sick, etc..) during the week prior to pulling the Labor hours from
Vantage. It pulls hours in quickly on Monday morning and calculates
OT. A file is written that can be imported into ADP and we never have
had trouble importing.

Bad: Occaissonally, I'd say 2-3 times per year, and we do payroll
weekly, we have a problem during the file writing process. It will
just stop writing, lockup or end the process, no error message to help
you figure out what went wrong. No file is dumped for importing into
ADP and the data is gone from the interface, as it normally is after a
successful write. That causes Payroll to re-enter all of the
miscellaneous hours and re-pull the labor hours, re-calc OT, and try
the write again. Recently, they had it fail twice on the same day, and
it worked the 3rd time after we discovered an issue with an employees
master file data, I don't remember the specific cause, but after we
fixed it the process worked. I haven't had time to call Customer
Programming about this, but I want to suggest to them to have some way
of backing up the data before the writing process, so that if a failure
occurs, the data is not lost.

Other than that, I think it works well. It does cost money... I think
we originally paid around $2,750 for it and we had one minor
customization done to it to add a miscellaneous type for Funeral Leave
that would be included in OT calc, so we pay around $500 per upgrade
for that.

It is a process that could be done with some in house programming if
you know Access or VB. Our management team decided to buy the module
before I became involved in the Vantage implementation, so I never had
to try it, but I think I could've done this if I needed to.
