Admin Service won't start

In my case, since our server is in production and stopping all app servers isn't a viable option, just killed the java.exe processes that were not associated with "app servers."

Now the AdminService10.1b started successfully.

Thanks,

Our admin service will not start. The exe that is associated with the service is not running.

I've been able to resolve this by killing all the java.exe processes and adminsvc.exe process and starting again.

If the java.exe are killed, will that affect the database or any of the app servers running?

Thanks,

-sf
Realize that killing all the java.exe will also kill the app servers. Running ProcessExplorer and found two processes that are running java.exe but don't have app servers associated with them, I'm wondering if this is what is holding up the Admin Service from starting?

adminsvc.exe is the .exe that is associated with the Service, if that is
there then the service is started.

The Admin Service itself will have 2 java.exe processes associated with it.

The Admin Service will not start through the Services menu if there are any
Java.exe or _proapsv or proshut or any other _processes running.

This usually happens because not everything shutdown when the Admin Service
was stopped.

Does this happen after a reboot? Or is this just a one-time incident you are
experiencing?

It's a one time incident. Now our app servers are in production, but the Admin Service will not start. Without restarting or shutting down the app services, can I isolate the java.exe associated with the Admin Service and kills those? That should allow the admin service to start again?

No, you need to turn them all off, it doesn't matter what they are
associated with.

Restart your server is the simplest way.

Killing off individual processes can lead to data loss or corruption.
