Add standard document to SSRS

Is there a way to add a standardized document to the end of an SSRS report? When I created a sub-report with the document basically copied/pasted into the RDL, it errors with an object reference not found? Is there some trick to setting up a sub-report that I am not aware of? There’s no data in it so I didn’t setup a parameter for the Guid. Do I need to do that maybe?

Also, is there a better way? Like attach a PDF to the end of the generated SSRS report PDF?

@dr_dan - Our workaround was to create a big ‘text’ box and copy the text of the document into the text box. A little fiddling with the placement and properties allowed for the “page break” to appear correctly. Sorry - I don’t think I have (but I’ll look) a current example of that since we moved to APR and just add documents to the output email by taking them from ECM/Docstar now.

I know I have an example in Crystal Reports still lying about…

If it is totally static, then you could also convert to an image and insert the image into the report. This works in a pinch!

Thanks for the suggestion. This particular document is several pages long - it’s a terms and conditions of sale type document. I don’t think an image would split properly between pages… even if I could figure out how to make the image…

Yeah - that was our thing too - T&C.
Should work if you can break it up into multiple text boxes, get the page/line/properties set just right.

Have to agree with Mike and Nate, trying to set up a subreport for this is going to cause you a lot of frustration. I wish epicor made it easier to use subreports, but I haven’t found any documentation on how to do it.

With APR, you should be able to do a Take Document and copy it in.

I have worked at quite a few places where the customer altered the T&C’s so standard text didn’t work - especially if it was signed. I knew one company who always changed the T&Cs because they had a lawyer on staff. :person_shrugging:

If it truly is unchanging, we just included a link to the company’s external web site with the T&Cs to download.

Our old-fashioned lawyer advised our CFO against this. I tried and tried…

The APR ‘take’ works well if you need to substitute T&C - we are doing it that way because some lines on the order are services that have a different T&C form our MFG stuff.

If you want to try a subreport, you will have to set it up exactly like the other subreports. I forget if you need an RDD, but you at least need to point the Guid to the subreport.

Ours said we didn’t want to work out special T&Cs and then automagically send the standard (wrong) one. :person_shrugging: So, it couldn’t go in the report.
