When Vantage exports the records in vantage to dbf files, table and field
names sometimes change, or new tables are added to make the crystal report
work properly. The dbf files often do not contain all the fields in the
data dictionary table.

This is one of those instances where the dbf file structure differs from the
Table structure in the Progress database. The data dictionary always refers
to the table structure of the progress database, though it can be used at
times as a general reference as to the general structure of the dbf files.

Subject: [Vantage] A/R Invoice Report customization on Crystal Report

Hi guys,
I'm currently working on the A/R Invoice Report customization. The
information I gather from the Help file title -"Customizing Crytal
Forms". According to the help file, A/R Invoice for cystral report is
in epic51\Vantage\UserForm\arform.rpt and it involved Vantage Tables:
invhead, invcdtl, invcmisc, invctax, payments.

I run the Data Dictionary - Table relationship report on the Vantage.
The report shows that the relationship to creating this A/R invoice
report involved: Invcdtl, invcmisc, invchead, and invctax.

"Payments" table doesn't exist in the data dictionary. Why the help
file indicate the there is a "payment" table.

Anyone have any idea?

The answer to your question is simple, but the reason behind it is still a mystery. Vantage reports are not run directly from the Vantage (Progress) Tables . Instead, Vantage exports a series of .dbf files to your PC's working directory (usually c:\vntgwork or c:\epic51, depending on what you used during the Client install). If you open the crystal report ARFORM.RPT, and click on the Insert/Database Field... from the menu, you can see which tables Crystal is actually linking to. Why does Epicor do it this way? Perhaps speed, or ease of customizing the reports. Unfortunately for the end-user, this limits what fields are available to you in your report. There ARE a couple of 'workaround' ways to get additional fields into these reports if you really need to.

To modify your ARFORM.RPT report and view the results in Crystal, you'll have to do the following:
1. Open ARFORM.RPT in Crystal Designer.
2. Now open Vantage and Print Preview the report in Vantage that you are going to be modifying. This allows Vantage to write the .dbf files to the Working Directory for Crystal to see. Leave the Print Preview open when you do the next step.
3. Click Database/Set Directory... in Crystal. One by one, change the "c:\temp\invchead...File Location to c:\vntgwork\invchead (or c:\epic51\invchead, whichever working directory you are using) for each of the tables. Click Done.
4. Finally, click "Database/Verify Database" to make sure it is using the latest information.
5. Now you should be able to Preview your Crystal Report in Crystal Designer and edit it accordingly.
