9.05.701 Crystal report problem

First... The Server File Directory should be a UNC path just like the Client
File Directory.

Second, check the share, the share may not actually be the same location as
what you think it is in the installation folder.

Did you install the 64 bit runtime or the 32 bit runtime. 32 bit is the one
you need even if you are running on a 64bit OS.

Greetings All,

I've set up a test environment using VMworkstation with a VM running Server 2008 R2. The db is Progress. I've installed the Crystal 2010 .net piece and restored the demo database. All are 64 bit.

Epicor runs fine. However, when I try to print a standard report, the System Monitor shows on the Report Tab under the Last Action column "System Error Has Occurred". If I go to the history tab and highlight the report and then select the Detail tab it is blank. I had assumed it was a System Agent setup problem but I think I'm ok here. As a check, I've entered:

Server File Directory: c:\program files\epicor software\epicordata
Client File Directory: \\epic905t\epicordata
Client Program Directory: \\epic905t\epicor905\server\

BTW, the server name is epic905t

System and Task AppServer URLs have been confirmed.

The XML file is created in the correct location, it just seems that the Crystal viewer isn't launching for some reason. The lack of error messages (perhaps I'm not looking in the correct spot?) is making troubleshooting difficult. I'm sure I'm missing something simple so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Mike
Not sure I can be of much help but I will ask, Did you try restarting your task and process server after entering the file paths you mentioned?

I did. I even restarted the servers on occasion as I've been trying everything I could think of. I suspect it's related to something with the Crystal runtime component as the XML file gets created in the correct place but Crystal never launches. It's a strange one.

Thanks anyway...

Mike

Hi Mike,

701 requires an upgrade to the Crystal Reports viewer. Have you installed the latest version?

You require 2010 Crystal Runtime SP3. The viewer will not launch with 2008 version.

Let me know if this does not correct the issue as I have it working fine in my environment.

Cheers..
J Seeman

In case anyone else runs into this issue, even though I'm running a 64bit server I needed to install the 32bit Crystal viewer. As soon as I did this, it fixed the problem.

Kudos to Epicor support. I should have been less stubborn and called them sooner!

Mike
