8.03.405 is out

Just to follow up...
The Order Entry screen slow to change between lines issue turned out to
be a "Base Extension" Customization (that I can't quite pin down where
it came from) called Order Tracker (not to be confused with the actual
Order Tracker Screen). I had to create a customization based on the
"Base" and then set that to be the active customization and the speed
issues went away (thank you Sharon).
The Customer Part number only allowing the first Customer part is a
confirmed bug by at least 5 companies and until now is slated for patch
in 8.03.406 due out Aug. 18 (at current).

Like Bernie says, the Install guides now include what's been changed/fixed.
It reads more like 404C than 405 but here's a few of the enhancements:

- There's a new Crystal Runtime (03_05_2008)
- The configurator can now use include files for on-leave expressions (cool)
- Various Performance improvements

Has anybody rolled out to production? Call me gun shy, but I am gun shy.

We installed the patch this weekend and so far so good. The only
problem I have heard so far is we have one report that is not
behaving. What we are anxious to see is if this fixes the MRP
scheduling problems.

I'm with Chad. After the bug laden disaster 404B proved to be, I have zero confidence in Epicor's prelease testing and quality control.

Is any one out there USING 405A yet on their live system? If so, what are you finding (both good and bad)?

I have installed 405 in my test environment and found a problem with
menu security. All users and/or groups listed in the "Allow
Access-Selected Groups/Users" list has reverted to the security ID,
not the security description. Makes it very hard to determine who has
access.
The maintenance also seems very flaky with various errors thrown out
when trying to save and the "Allow Access-Groups/Users" list is not
displaying anything.

I would not feel comfortable moving to this release until this issue
has been fixed.

Note: Did open a call with Epicor and they were able to reproduce in
their environment but not word on a fix.

Hi Bill,

Any more news on this ? We are about to install vantage (sql) on a
separate test server and i need to decide tomorrow whether to stick
with 404B or goto 405.

Does anyone know if this is a problem only with menu maint or does
it also affect process security ?

many thanks

We had this same issue when we upgraded to 404b. All the groups and users
were displayed as the ID and not the description. Support emailed me a
quick progress script to run and clean it up. It didn't seem like a big
deal, but it surprises me that they still have this same problem in 405.

There is a one off for that issue with .405. We had a huge problem with the Stock Status report on our Progress DB. It took approximately 3 hours to run. We were sent the 404B Stock Status .r file which completed in a few minutes. You probably won't have this problem on SQL but anyone with Progress should be aware.

Ok,
Since we finally made the jump to 8.03.403D about a month ago, we
decided to make the jump to 405 this past weekend (mostly because we are
24/7 now and the 4th was a good opportunity to upgrade as well as have
tech support available). We were in hopes that this would solve a
problem with Order entry (namely changing from one line to another in a
multi line order takes in excess of 30 seconds where everything else in
order entry happens within 2 to5. This problem was not solved. Is
anyone else experiencing this or is it just us?
Also, please note that if you have multiple customer part numbers for a
single part number in your system (we have one part number for the
material mix in our extrusion plant and a customer part number for each
size we sell it as) when you input the part you are selling, it will
pull the first customer part number. That was not an issue in the past
because you could just select the correct number, but now in 405 no
matter what customer part number you select you get the first record for
that "our part number" returned. We are submitting this bug this morning.
I will post other issues as they show up.
