We were running 6.1 and 8.0 together and didn't see much of a
performance issue. We had about 15 users on both versions
simultaneously (no MES at the time). We used to use Metaframe for about
6 users on 6.1 at our remote site, but switched to the Smart Client (no
Citrix) after that. We still use Citrix for the remote Sales Force
(about 5 users). Our server was a Compaq/HP Proliant GL530 with dual
2.4 GHz Xeon processors, 3 Gig RAM, Raid 10 on the data side using 10K
RPM drives (Mirrored for OS side). Our Citrix box is Dell pizza box
with dual 3.2 GHz Xeon, 2G RAM, Mirrored Drives. Both systems use Dual
Gb NICs, teamed, to our backbone. We also have Backup Exec 9.0 with a
120/240 DLT drive on the Epicor box, and it also backs up our File
server at night. If I run a backup/restore during the day use, we get
some slowness at the desktop, but nothing to rock the users.
We did have some initial performance issues with 8.0, but Epicor did
some tweaking of the settings of the apps servers and the boxes rarely
exhibit any performance issues. We uninstalled 6.1 about 2 months ago.

Subject: [Vantage] 8.0 Test Server
Is any running Vantage 6.1 and 8.0 on the same server? I am getting
ready to put 8.0 on a server as a test but I probably will not be going
live for some time and was hoping to put it on the same server. I just
purchased a brand new server and was hoping to take advantage of its
horsepower now rather than waiting until I go live with 8.0
