64bit ODBC Blank Title 102763

We are on 8.03.408A Progress with a 2008R2 64 bit server and have no problems with ODBC.

Â
What I would like to hear is if anyone is running Progress 10.1B (Vantage 8.03.xxx) on Server 2008R2 (64bit) AND successfully using ODBC.

I've seen post about 64bit odbc and windows 7 with progress 10.1 but not
really a solution. Anyone have a working solution?

We have been running an ODBC connection with a progress DB and windows 7 64Bit
for some time now.

Our reports are a hybrid collection; some are created straight through crystal
and others are built using the Vantage report designer and BAQ's.

Reports created without any Vantage resources (i.e. report designer, BAQ, etc.)
require a DSN-Less connection string to allow users to run them from a Vantage
menu without the need of a direct ODBC connection on every client computer. This
allows us to embed the connection string, user name, and password in the report
which is never available to users. Thus, the information to even create a direct
ODBC connection to our DB is never available for a user to even create.

It works very well and it is surprisingly easy to deploy. It requires copying
and pasting some driver .dll files to each client PC. Finally, a simple registry
hack makes the progress open edge driver available to the Windows ODBC admin
app.

Once installed, you can establish an ODBC connection from the
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe application (if running Windows 7 64Bit OS).
For some reason the 32Bit version of the ODBC admin app is located in the
SysWOW64 folder.

Or, you can utilize the progress open edge driver to run crystal reports from
within the Vantage menu without the need to establish a direct ODBC connection
on client PC's.

Email me off line if you would like the details on how to accomplish this.
