6 Years into Implementation

We are 6 years into our implementation with no end in sight. We simply do not have the resources to implement the system ourselves and are looking to hire an implementation team. We want someone to come in and learn our business and then implement the system for us. Can anyone recommend a team that can do this for us preferably with both financial and operations consultants?

Our consultants: https://www.comtecsolutions.com/

2wtech : https://2wtech.com

We brought in Encompass.

They did a good job learning and implementing.

We had good luck with everything except their C#.

@dishmael Here is a List of Epicor Kinetic Partners (many of them already mentioned above)

I would start there, I would rather this post not become a commercial for every consultant or partner out there because it can quickly devolve into I’m better than so and so or Jimmy/Timmy sucks or whatever.

I would say be very careful with your selection, non partners (independents) can be fine too, we have quite a few that actively participate in the forum. But do your due diligence. There are some really really crappy independents out there…(and partners too :joy:)

Once you’ve narrowed down who you are going with come back and feel free to ask specific questions and the community members would be more than happy to give you their honest feedback if they have any (privately)

I appreciate the list, wasn’t quite sure where to start because if you google, its just all the biggest companies taking up the first page. We are currently looking at Quantum ERP as our consulting firm is suggesting them and they seem to have a good track record, but we wanted to be able to weigh our options.

Considering how little details you shared, what I am about to say is a bit pessimistic and presumptuous but…

If it took 6 years to realize the company didn’t have the resources to do this, it sounds like there may be a leadership issue that consultants aren’t going to be able to solve. The consultants will be able make technical recommendations and implement them. But unless there is a diverse, and driven team of people thoroughly teaching them the ins and outs of the business and driving internal buy in, it might not be the silver bullet you are looking for.

If you can get a frank discussion of the non-technical issues that lead to a 6 years of dead end effort it might set you up for a better chance of success.

If it did, the posts wouldn’t be here long.

In all seriousness, @Evan_Purdy hit the nail on the head. All the consultants, developers and other assorted IT folks in the world aren’t going to help if the business model is flawed, broken, outdated or otherwise unable to “systemize”

All of these comments match my experience as well. Although, I didn’t see much of their C# since I handled the data and technical stuff.

There is definitely an issue of making the right decisions, but the real hold up has been feeling like we can make it happen before people get sidetracked with their normal full time job and can’t commit time to it as they are too busy. The 6 years has been a long path of ups and downs where we felt like we had a plan and it just fell apart. Leadership on the project as well as direction of what to do has been fairly weak the entire way through.

Well, I can’t throw too many stones. Our kinetic migration is like a turtle crossing the railroad tracks. No matter how many times Epicor blows the horn, we don’t move any faster. Its yet to be seen if we will make it in time or not.

Truth. It’s extremely difficult if the key players - the ones that really know the business - can’t devote sufficient time to the project. And if management can’t find a way to make them available to the project, it’s a double whammy.

EDIT - full disclosure, we struggled with multiple ERP implementations here for those very reasons. I’ve been through three of them now and it’s a common event.

Looking forward to our call tomorrow!

Make sure you have someone internally driving this project. The partners are great, make sure you interview them as if they were an employee being hired. Their approaches can vary, find a match for your organization. Sometimes that is a gentle hand and sometimes that is someone to push you through.
Each partner will have a team of consultants. Pick your team!!! You typically will not work with the team you initially interact with.
Last piece of advice. The partner should help you get through this and have plans to leave. Make sure they help you built a sustainable environment.

I’m a bit biased as I’ve worked for Cre8tive as a developer for a couple of decades, however, I think they have a great team worth checking out if you need help implementing, learning, or just want some support to communicate with Epicor as your partner to help fit Epicor to your business. https://www.ctnd.com/ Happy Thursday!

Please email me at dlikins@truckcorpllc.com

I just did an implementation from E10 to Kinetic and we did it in a year.

I’ve personally worked with The Quartz Group and also Mayan Technologies.

NOPE… not a Me too of everyone else.
