6.1 BAQ Question

Aaron,

Thank you for the reply. I must confess, I was hoping the answer was
going to be a yes :-) I suppose for now the only solution is to use the
XML output and design a site for our accounting people. It almost might
be worth just writing a .p and adding to it to Vantage, at least then I
can use PROMPT-FOR and output it to a window - either way, frustrating.

Guess I will have to see what Perspectives offers this year with 8.0 and
the enhanced dashboard - just wish the system req's weren't so steep

Thanks again, will let you know what I come up with.

Trying to design a BAQ and I have a question regarding user input. Is
it possible for the BAQ to ask a user to input something (ie. date,
part number, etc) before running the BAQ and having the BAQ use that
information?

I really dont want to have to train our accounting department on
changing the query parameters on a BAQ, would rather they just type in
a date or part number and have the BAQ use that.

Any help is appreciated as always.

Thanks,

Brandon,
I believe the answer to this is no. That being said, what you are looking
for I believe is 8.0+ and it's enhancements to Dashboard. There I believe
you can create you own trackers based on your own BAQs of your own design
with your own search functions.
I don't know if it applies, but I have built BAQs that automatically export
into XML and populate ASP pages (created by Vantage) on our intranet. Those
pages have filters that allow you to filter by say part number, date, etc
and the data is only a few minutes old. It's not as clean, but I thought it
worth bringing up. This is all accomplished within Vantage and only
requires you have an IIS server running on your intranet to host the pages.
If you would like info on that, let me know.
