I did the thing where rather than re-installing the clients I just repointed the desktop icon. Saved a lot of time BUT now I am paying for it with leftover references to mfgsys60. Any client I reinstalled on got updated. I found this out when I tried to delete the mfgsys60 folder and mos tof the users bacame unable to start Vantage. Another clue was our customized splash screen. We create an image from some colored spreadsheet cells that display our current status with various key customers (traffic signal green, yellow, red). When people log in they see which customers have issues. Those clients pointing at mfgsys61/bitmap were OK but the mfgsys60 pointers were not getting updates.

We used the same drive letter (M) but had I known about the problems above I would have re-run the client installs - it does not take that long without the Progress part..

I plan to install vantage in a mfgsys61 folder in my current epicor
(6.0) directory.
The upgrade doc states that progress does not have to be re-installed.

So I plan to use the same drive letter and just modify the current
desktop icons.

Does anyone see any problems with this plan?

If you can, avoid using the old mapped drive from 6.0.

If you really must use this letter, make sure you wipe out ALL
instances from the registry on the client machines!

I see what you mean. I checked my registry, and my currect vantage
mapped designation
explicitly points to mfgsys60. Obviously, this could be a problem.
Guess I will have to re-map.
