5.2 Odd install behavior

I have another 5.2 testbox, I could copy the missing .vtg files from that
machine. It just makes me wonder what else did not get installed either.
Hmmm.

Back when I converted to 5.2 I recall there being some issues with the .vtg
files being named incorrectly and/or folder paths within them needing to be
fixed manually. Check out all the .ini files and .vtg files and scrutinize
the folder paths to see if they make sense. I had to do a lot of fixes that
were not automatically handled in the upgrade. Not related, but in
particular for the backup process.

I have been trying to set up Vantage 5.2 on a brand new Win2K3 server in my
mixed mode test environment. For some reason the first time I installed 5.2
everything seemed to go well, however, when I tried to fire Vantage up to do
the schema change bit, I got error messages complaining about not being able
to find .vtg's I checked the Vantage folder created by the install and to
my surprise none of the .vtg's were there. After uninstall of both Progress
and Vantage, I tried to reinstall. Progress runs ok. The Vantage install
stops at about 80% and gives me the "installation finished" screen. Once
again no .vtg files installed.

Anyone seen this type of behavior before?

You need to make sure you have full control of the vantage directory when
you install the client. Check your permissions and reinstall the client
app.

On the problem install: I am the local system administrator, and logged in
as the domain administrator. Domain admin has same rights on this machine
as local admin.

I am about to reinstall. For this try I will make double sure that anybody
can do anything anywhere in the system.
Since it is only a test box, I will even grant regular users admin rights.

Keep your fingers crossed...
