According to Support, our server should be fine, but....
Our server
Dual Pentium Pro 200 MHz
896 MB RAM
6- 9 GB Drives - 3 mirrored sets with Raid Ctrl
Vantage on its own drive - 4 GB Free space
Database size is 1.62 GB
all extents, b1, b2, d1, d2,.. in the same directory
Data - 3 500 MB extents, 1 variable
BI - 1 256 MB extent, 1 variable
8K Block size for DB
-SPIN setting is 1000, have also tried 2000
-B 40000 (320 MB), have also tried 60000
30 Vantage Users
Vantage specs say NT Server with
Windows NT Server 5.0 Service Pack 5 or higher --> SP6a (on all NT Srv, WS)
Windows 2000 Server --> N/A
Pentium 200 or higher --> Dual
200 Pent Pro
128 MB RAM, plus an additional 2 MB of RAM for every user on your
ystem. --> 896 MB
500 MB free disk space.
For optimum performance, Epicor recommends 1 GB of available disk
pace. --> 4 GB
VGA or higher adapter w/color --> OK
3.5" floppy diskette drive --> OK
CD-ROM drive --> OK
RAID level 1, 0 or 10 (RAID 5 is NOT recommended); SCSI class
ontrollers --> RAID 1
Does Progress 9.1 just require that much more power that 8.3? Are these
minimum specs
anywhere close? That last question is what led to my other post yesterday
about
what would you consider minimums or ideals.
Thanks for taking the time to read about my problems, and I hope that by our
going
through them, no one else will.
