4GL error Blank Title 51405

When running .809c on SQL we had a bug that would cause the 4GL stop error.
The bug was in the sales order search dialogue box - if alpha data was entered in the search field it would crash the system.
Epicor issued a hot fix for it but I never saw any public info about the bug - I found out from a larger organization that is kind enough to help us out.
We recently moved to 810c and do not have the problem but I can't say which patch resolved it.

While I'm here will mention that 810c seems to have a problem with miscellaneous charges to jobs - worked fine in .809c but as soon as we went to 810c it began to double the cost in the total on the production detail report.

Has anyone ever encountered the following error?

4GL STOP condition: as/activate.p activation procedure ended with an
STOP condition. (8026) (7241)

Every couple of days this error starts popping up on all the users.
Doesn't matter what module they're in and it even appears during log-
in attempts. Since it always occurs in the middle of the workday, I
just reboot the Vantage server and everything is fine again. I've
submitted this to tech support, but I thought I would post here to see
if anyone has ever run into a similar problem.

FYI, I'm on V8 809, but it started last week while I was still on 808f.

Thanks,

Have you got backup software running at this time?

I've seen this type of error crop up when a backup program tries to backup
the open database file, locks it for exclusive use and it crashes
everything. Can happen, for example, if the backup didn't run the night
before because the correct tape wasn't loaded. Load the correct tape and the
backup program goes on its merry way, even though it is the middle of the
day and creates havoc.

Nope, no backup software on the Vantage server. Each night a backup
of the SQL database is created on the hard drive and then moved to
the backup server. I appreciate the input, but it must be something
else.

Yes, I had that error. It was a lock error. We changed the defaul of
4892 Lock entries to 200,000. We did that in the progress explorer
tool: right click on the mfgsys80 database->default configuration, go
to properties. I was told that it's very typical to change the
default setting to 200,000.

we haven't seen that issue again since making that change.

Amy
We just had this error after applying the 305B patch (Vantage
8.03.305B). For three days we crashed every couple of hours. Custommer
Support was at a total loss and I have not heard from them in a week.
As far as I know the call is still open.

We eventually traced the problem to a single PC in our Engineering
Dept. The error was triggered when the user exited the Engineering
Workbench program. Further investigation revealed that the Workbench
was working fine, but that particular PC was looking for a Vantage
8.03.304 program, which was our previous version before the 305B patch
was applied.

We have not had the error reoccur since we removed the PC from the
network.
