1432 Error - Could not connect to server

You may need to reboot your workstations for them to be able to see the
server.

Hi --

I am getting an error: Could not connect to server for database
V:\Vantage\db\vantage, errno 0 (1432). This error just started
happening on Friday, and appears to happen twice/day, at around 8:50
AM and 11:30 AM. The message will last for about 50 minutes, then
magically goes away and people can then login to Vantage. People who
are in Vantage when this happens are not affected - they can continue
to work without problem. Any idea what might cause this?

We are running Vantage v5.0.332 on a Windows 2000 server. When we
have this problem, it affects everyone (Win9x, Win2000 desktops, and
the Win2000 server). It has happened pretty consistently for the
last three days. The only change we really made was that on Thursday
I talked to support and we optimized the database. The changes took
affect Thursday nite when I restarted our server. In the process we
added a group in the Progress Explorer Tool under
defaultConfiguration called ODBCgroup, that was for our ODBC
connections. Talking to support, they tell me that this should not
be the problem, that a 1432 error is a network error.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm sure you've already checked these things, but are you sure you don't
have some backup program set to run at that time? W2K has it's own, so look
for it. There are also some oddball settings under power management that
might have an effect, although I think that is only on W2K pro, not server.
Also, your anti-virus software isn't downloading updates then, is it? Or is
someone turning on the microwave that is on the same circuit as your hubs
and shutting them down? Some other stupid things like that have happened
here-including a quite dead rodent with a cable in his teeth...

Just my ideas.
