Zero Dollar Parts

I am not sure if this would work for you but you could setup a customer owned material warehouse with a $0 material. You have to write a special type of PO for it but this works for not having added material cost to WIP.

Quick question, does anyone know of a way to add $0 parts to a warehouse or a specific bin and not have those parts effect the costing of the part? We are using average costing.

If the part has a costing method of Average, then I don’t think you achieve what you are looking for.
I would guess that you could quantity adjust those parts in and not have that impact the average value but they would be costed at average and transacted at the average cost.

You would need to switch to Lot Average in order to have separate lots for the same part number with different costs.
