Are you sure that you have your control accounts set up correctly?
we used to have that same problem when I started and then learned
that the account were incorrect. You should be able to compare the
WIP difference for the month to the inventory work in process report
and if there are discrepancies figure out where they are coming
from. Ours used to be way way off but now I balance to the penny
every month. We are on 5.1 but haven't had a problem with WIP since 3

to show up on the report? If so, how do we clean up?
We have discussed this with Vantage support, no one has come up with any
answers.

I have checked these several times and just checked again--everything seems
to be set up correctly. Support has had a bazillion copies of our database
and I would think they would have checked this also. Everything was going
pretty good until we installed 5.1 in March 2002 and somewhere between
patches 116 and 119 is where the problem began. I did show Vantage Support
where one of the problems was (with the WIP Subcontract) and they admitted
there was a problem. This got fixed in 5.2 but WIP Material is still way
off.

Which patch are you on? We had a problem in 5.1 with WIP reconciliation,
but patch 133 fixed it.

WIP Subcontract, to you create purchase orders for subcontracted operations
or just create packing slips and do misc receipts?

I have checked these several times and just checked again--everything
seems
to be set up correctly. Support has had a bazillion copies of our database
and I would think they would have checked this also. Everything was going
pretty good until we installed 5.1 in March 2002 and somewhere between
patches 116 and 119 is where the problem began. I did show Vantage Support
where one of the problems was (with the WIP Subcontract) and they admitted
there was a problem. This got fixed in 5.2 but WIP Material is still way
off.

Are you sure that you have your control accounts set up correctly?
we used to have that same problem when I started and then learned
that the account were incorrect. You should be able to compare the
WIP difference for the month to the inventory work in process report
and if there are discrepancies figure out where they are coming
from. Ours used to be way way off but now I balance to the penny
every month. We are on 5.1 but haven't had a problem with WIP since 3

Since moving to 5.2, our WIP report does not appear as accurate as 5.0.
We did some clean up in April, by closing open jobs. But the numbers just do
not seem quite right.
The biggest give away is the amount of material we have staged at the
various work centers.
Can anyone in our group provide some insight as to how WIP numbers are
generated?
We just want to make sure that we are set up correctly. Any insight would be
greatly appreciated.
