Roy,

>Does Terminal Server 2000 have upgraded drivers for printers<

No, I don't think printing support has changed at all. We finally gave up on
deskjet printers and have been buying HP LJ4050N for workgroup printers and
the HP LJ1100 for personal printers. The LJ4050 driver is really solid, but
we have had a few problems with the LJ1100.

I don't think anybody puts much development effort into deskjet printer
drivers. The laserjet drivers seem much better.

We are going to upgrade our workstations to Windows 2000. Has anyone else
done this? And have there been any conflicts?

We've been running on W2KPro since April with no problems at all.
Progress (on the server), however, does not support Windows 2000 Server.
We'll have to wait for Vantage 5.0 to make that upgrade.

We have been for approximately 6 months and just added our 3rd remote site
within the last month. Connectivity is over a 128k frame relay circuit with
4 to 6 concurrent users to one of our locations and a 64k frame relay
circuit to our other two location with 1 to 3 concurrent users. Performance
has been remarkably good, however no data collection or report builder at
any of the remote locations. The only issues we have had that I can relate
to Windows 2000 have been printing related were print jobs seem to hang in
the queue. I installed SP 1 on Friday, September 1st and have had no issues.

I keep hearing you need a bunch of memory, 128MB minimum, just to be quick
enough to get out of its own way. Nothing exceptional on new PCs, but a
stretch (or addl expense) for old boxes. Once you're over that memory
hump, it's supposed to be faster than NT though. Anyone that's made the
plunge care to comment?

Since where on the subject is anyone using Windows 2000 terminal server?

We just recently installed WIN2K terminal server and the latest Citrix
release to support it in our lab. I have Vantage v4 on an NT4 server in the
lab also. I setup published apps and a domain farm in the new Citrix for
testing Vantage, Outlook and MS Access. So far everything works like it's
supposed to. I have installed the client on an NT4 Workstation and WIN2K Pro
system. No problems there either.

Our production environment uses an NT4 server for Vantage, and NT4 Terminal
Server Edition with Citrix for WAN connections. The new Citrix version on
the WIN2K server requires an update for the client. This new client can
access both our domain farms with no problem. (We use Citrix published apps
for all clients over the WAN.)

Hi Tom, Does Terminal Server 2000 have upgraded drivers for printers. As
you know, only the drivers on the CD have been tested from Microsoft and
every time I try to use a different driver the system crashes. Was just
curious if they have included some of the HP deskJets like 810C, 895C,
750...etc. I have tried several compatables but to no avail....

Any suggestions?

Well we have about 15 on w2kpro most of them (at least 7) have 128 there are
others that are running on 64 mb it is slow compared to the others but just
don't open a lot of windows. More memory the better.

We have a deskjet 890c that we use for routers that print on yellow paper.
Anyway after a lot of aggrevation trying to get the dang printer to work on
a w2k workstation (server nt 4.0) i created a standard tcp/ip port from the
add printer (local) screen then i found the ip address of the hp on the
network and called the port the ip address. It worked I have done this on 9
machines (w2k) without any problems
