"Unable to Load Online Help" error

I’m getting the following error when I try to access an online help topic.

Funny thing is, is that the Help launches okay when you hit F1

And even seems to run the search

But as soon as I click a link in the serach results (or choose a link from the tree on the left) I get the error I mentioned.

This have to do with security settings of some sub-folder in the inetpub ?

Set your app pool for help to run on a domain account.

i occasionally get the same. It seems to happen when I click on the links too quickly. I tend to give it time load then go for it.

I’ve been struggling with trying to figure out if something was wrong with my client install, making my Help stop working, giving me and “unable to load online help” message, whereas other computer’s weren’t having problems.

I am posting this as a service to others who may be having same problem. Do not ignore the icons at the top left, like i’ve been doing! Use the stop and the refresh, per screenshot below, and Help loads again with information coming up on demand. Wow ~ silly huh?

I found that my app server help would not run anything or show anything until the IP of the server replaced the URL for the help site.

… then researched some of my past cases with the same error syntax you are seeing - Below is one of the solutions I used:

The customer had to insert the IP address of the ERP server into the Help or Education URL in Company Maintenance:
For some reason, the way they have the server setup, the actual name of the server in the URL field cannot be resolved by the Help or Education Courses program, but, the IP address incorporated into the URL line worked.

For example, Here is what it would look like: http://192.168.1.10/102100-EE instead of http://TheERPServerName/102100-EE

  • please use your IP address and the -EE deployment name that goes with your appserver (not the one shown above).

Thanks. Let me know how that works.
