Shipping issue

Yes, it has happened to us since going to 5.2. I posted a msg about it when
it first happened and the fix is what you describe. There is also a way to
get around it at shipment entry if on the line item you enter the job# & qty
FIRST, then pick the line, then re-enter the job qty.

From looking at change logs we found that this occurs if you ship a Sales
Order Line item that was previously closed and then re-opened. This can
occur a couple of ways: (1) if someone shipped the line item and realized it
was a mistake and deleted the packing slip; or (2) if someone marked the
Sales Order 'Closed' or 'Void' accidentally and re-opened it. There might be
other causes as well, but these are the causes we have identified in our
system.

After we discovered it here (may 2003) I sent an email out to our shipper's
explaining the problem and the workaround.
Have any of you encountered the following issue???

You need to ship a job and you go to add a line (which has a job linked to
it) in Customer Shipment Entry and your job # is blank as well as your
quantity? This has happened to us a lot lately. As a matter of fact, I
have had to fix it on four or more occasions in the past month. How I fix
it is this way: I go into the links in job entry --- unlink the line(s)
that I want to ship and re-link them. That is the only way I have found to
correct this problem, so our shipping manager can complete the packing slip.

Has this happened to anyone else? If so what did you do to remedy it?

We currently are running 5.20.317. Thanks.

Usually I find this when there is an error on the sales order. Check to
make sure that the sales orders are correctly set for "make direct" and then
that the job is properly linked.
