Yes, it has happened to us since going to 5.2. I posted a msg about it when
it first happened and the fix is what you describe. There is also a way to
get around it at shipment entry if on the line item you enter the job# & qty
FIRST, then pick the line, then re-enter the job qty.
From looking at change logs we found that this occurs if you ship a Sales
Order Line item that was previously closed and then re-opened. This can
occur a couple of ways: (1) if someone shipped the line item and realized it
was a mistake and deleted the packing slip; or (2) if someone marked the
Sales Order 'Closed' or 'Void' accidentally and re-opened it. There might be
other causes as well, but these are the causes we have identified in our
system.
After we discovered it here (may 2003) I sent an email out to our shipper's
explaining the problem and the workaround.
