Return Asy Functionality

Can anyone convey the specific functionality of the “Return Assembly” feature? Assumption would be that it goes through all levels of the assembly (NCM) and returns all of the various items either to an assigned bin (if the item is stocked with an assigned bin) or to a designed “WIP bin” (if the item is non-stocked). The Epicor help is very vague and am looking for specific and details information on how this performs.

Thank you!

Did you already read the embedded help for Issue Assembly?
If not, that might help put the return in context.
for example …“sub-assembly part demand is different than a typical material requirement”

So you can issue an assembly instead of making the parts. Basically to use up some inventory that you don’t normally have. Because you can issue and inventoried item from stock to a job, you can also return that assembly to inventory. It doesn’t affect anything in the job other than required quantities for anything below it. The pull quantity field on the job assembly tab is what is used to state that an assembly should be pulled from stock instead of made.

Basically if you issued an assembly to a job from inventory, you can return it to stock.

Another situation would be if you over made an assembly and want to put some into stock, you can do that there.
