PSA - Do not set your System Agent Delay to 0

Apparently (according to Epicor Support), if you set your task agent delay to 0, Epicor treats this as 15 seconds.

This really impacts our user’s perception of the system when they need to wait up to 15 seconds extra for a very simple report to print.

I thought 0 would be “as fast as possible”, but that sends the task agent into a bit of a frenzy so that normally gets converted to 15 seconds by the system.

Version 10.2.500.8 and under, see Epicor KB0029248, where they recommend less than 3 but more than 1.

0 means “default” of 15 seconds. Unfortunately somebody (OK, it was me) broke this in 10.2.500. Zero changed to being “as fast as possible” which is way too much. This is fixed in 10.2.600, but all you have to do is set it yourself.

As you mentioned, 15 seconds is probably way too slow, so it is a good idea to set it yourself. 15 would mean that a user would click to run a report and it might take Task Agent 15 seconds to check if there is anything to run. So that’s 15 seconds plus the actually amount of time it takes to run the report. This could be very noticeable to users.

You can change the value “on the fly” so it is easy to test. Try 3 and see if you like it.
