If you are meaning to comfort us, it isn't working. I understand things
break in the real world, but what Epicor has done is inexcusable! We
were on the 303 patch for about 30 minutes before we found that Data
Collection didn't work! Within an hour we found the changelog error.
HOW COULD THIS HAVE PASSED ANY TYPE OF QUALITY CONTROL???????
Then, from what I am gathering, Epicor knew about the 304 bugs as early
as 12/10/02, but as of today haven't pulled the 304 patch, nor even sent
out a warning!!!
As far as a fix to this bug, we are going to have to wait till the
release of the 305 patch... and I don't have the luxury of waiting for
someone else to load it, I will HAVE to load it, and pray that it
doesn't break anything else!!!
P.S. No hostility intended toward you!

Problems in my opinion (at least programming opinion) is when you fix
one
thing on something, two more things break.
Isn't there an unwritten law on this somewhere?
Isn't this true on all things even outside the computer world.
I think that is the issue we all saw here today with 5.2, so far 5.2 has
been a pretty successful transition and we were even (fearfully) one of
the
first companies to move to the 5.2 version. 5.2 problems, in my opinion,
has
been pretty low in quantity.
However, I agree with you Troy, its always better to wait a little bit
for
all the bugs to be worked out.

A piece of advice (maybe opinion is a more accurate word) for those
reading
this thread. Rather than thinking you want to skip 5.2 all of the
sudden --
consider that version 6 is a much larger-scale change than 5.2 was. I
would
rather wait six months to a year after a new version has been released
before going live. With version 6 I would tend to wait even longer
(depending on current feedback) It's not by accident that my company is
not
on 5.2 yet. There is no way I would be the first company (or even the
20th
company) on version 6 if I could help it.
This current bug WILL be worked out, and probably a few others in the
next
month or two. Then you would be wise to finally step into version 5.2.
Version 6 will most likely go through some of the same 'perfecting'
stages
as all versions go through.
Do some of you remember the growing pains of moving to Vantage 5.0 in
its
early stages? I think there were at least 50% more emails and hostile
remarks then (when 5.0 was new) than there have been with 5.2. 5.2 has
been
one of the most quiet and smooth transitions to date (up until today)
that I
have seen.
Because of the large-scale changes in a full release of any software in
going from version 5.2 to version 6, I would expect to wait even longer
than
ever for things to quiet down (as far as bug fixes go).

skipped 5.0.

What really bothers me is that I downloaded this patch on Sat 12/14.
If
you note in the following summary from Epicor, they must have known
about this on 12/12/02.
If they would have pulled the patch , we wouldn't be in this position
now!!!!

Summary from Epicor:
----------------------------------
Summary: AP 5.20.304 Unable to add line to AP Invoice
Book: Change Requests
Request no.: 8410MPS
Description / Steps to reproduce:
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
In MnTech 5.20.304
Screen disappears after selecting invoice within group
STEPS TO DUPLICATE:
Accounts Payable > General Operations > Invoice Entry
Group > Select {BEV} > Click OK
Group > View Group Entries > Select the Invoice #1212 for Vendor CJR >
Click OK Select any menu option Screen disappears. Unable to access
this data
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
WHEN ENTERING AP INVOICES IN AP INVOICE ENTRY GROUP AFTER ENTERING THE
10TH INVOICE WHEN YOU TRY TO ADD A LINE THE USER GETS KICKED OUT OF
VANTAGE. IF YOU GO BACK INTO THE GROUP AND VIEW GROUP ENTRIES IF YOU
TRY TO ACCESS THE PROBLEM INVOICE YOU GET KICKED OUT OF VANTAGE. THIS
APPEARS TO BE A BUG ON THE 5.20.304 PATCH
STEPS TO DUPLICATE:
1. Acccounts Payable > General Operations > Invoice Entry > See group
aa
> Enter invoice
Yellow Invoice # 111 invoice date 12/12/02 0.00
NOTE: It does not matter what invoice date you use, or what kind of
invoice line 2. Accounts Payable > General Operations > Invoice Entry
>
Enter invoice > Once the header information has been included, click
on
line "add Receipt billing line"
VERSION: 5.20.304
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
RESPONSE FROM DEVELOPMENT
SCR 5213, planned for Vantage 5.20.305
I can duplicate this with the following steps:
1) In the AP Invoice Tracker, find any invoice. Note the vendor and
invoice number. (Only posted invoices appear in the Invoice Tracker,
so
we can assume that the invoice has been posted.)
2) In AP Invoice Entry, add an invoice with another vendor but the
same
invoice number as in step 1.
3) Select any menu item, such as Invoice => Update Heading, and the
AP
Invoice screen goes away.
When Vantage 5.20 SCR 4984 gave AP Invoice Entry (ap/ape10.w) a check
to
make sure that the invoice was not posted, it looked for an invoice
for
the same company and invoice number. But different vendors can use
the
same invoice number. The program needs to look for an invoice for the
same company, vendor number, and invoice number. Also, if the invoice
is posted, the program should not make the screen go away. Instead,
it
should issue an error message and remain in the screen so that the
user
can continue with invoice entry.
Version: 5.20.304
Work around: PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
